Steve Carell and Tina Fey Reunite for Netflix's New Comedy Series 'The Four Seasons'

Steve Carell is teaming up with Tina Fey for Netflix's upcoming comedy series "The Four Seasons," set to dive into the dynamics of friendship and relationships through the lens of shared vacations across the four seasons. This series, which draws inspiration from the 1981 film directed by and starring Alan Alda, promises to deliver both humor and heartfelt moments.

The original film followed three married couples as they navigated the complexities of their relationships during seasonal vacations. The plot thickens with the disruption caused by one of the husbands who introduces a younger companion into the mix after leaving his wife. This storyline was previously adapted into a 1984 TV series by CBS.

Carell and Fey, who previously starred as a married couple in the 2010 comedy "Date Night," will bring their comedic chemistry back to the small screen. Carell, widely recognized for his role in "The Office" and his work in films like "Foxcatcher" and "The 40 Year Old Virgin," brings a rich repertoire of comedic and dramatic roles to this project. Meanwhile, Fey, known for her work on "30 Rock" and as a key figure in modern comedy, is not only starring in the series but also co-creating it alongside Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, with whom she collaborated on "30 Rock."

Production for the eight-episode series is scheduled to begin later this year, promising Netflix viewers a blend of comedy and the complexities of adult relationships. The series also marks another collaboration with Universal Television, consolidating Fey’s ongoing relationship with the studio under her Little Stranger, Inc. banner.

In addition to their on-screen roles, the series will benefit from the creative minds of executive producers including David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Jeff Richmond, with Alan Alda and Marissa Bregman, whose father produced the original film, also contributing as producers. This ensemble of talent sets the stage for a series that could potentially resonate with a broad audience, mixing nostalgia with contemporary storytelling.

Fans of Carell and Fey can anticipate a series that leverages their proven comedic talents and on-screen synergy in a narrative rich with laughter and the nuanced exploration of life's unexpected turns.
